Collages From Buenos Aires

January 14, 2013 by igetakickoutofyou

Just before Christmas I went to Buenos Aires for my aunt’s 50th Birthday. Wow – what a trip it was! I have been meaning to blog about this trip for ages but I really wanted to go through the photos and make some sort of sense of them. I didn’t really want to blog about a family holiday as it’s a bit meaningless if you don’t know the people involved. So while I was there I tried to take some […]

Milk Decoration, Belgium

Dune 234

January 7, 2013 by igetakickoutofyou

From Ixelles in Belgium, comes this gorgeous neutral-toned home, courtesy of Milk Decoration. Would you believe this used to be a Japanese restaurant before Muriel Bardinet, owner of antique store Dune 234, transformed it into a home – full of industrial, Moroccan and salvage finds? Images by Karl Balas for Milk Decoration, 4th image by Serge Anton for Elle Decoration P.S. If you want to get hold of Milk Decoration you can download it digitally from Zinio

Un Año Nuevo Refrescante

December 31, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

I can’t actually remember the last time I stayed in on New Year’s Eve or at least not celebrated it in some shape or form. But this year I’m turning over a new leaf. Perhaps I’m just overly superstitious (I’m sure I’m not alone there) but I can’t help feeling that the last few years (normally starting with a heaving hangover) haven’t been anywhere near as productive as I would like them to be. So perhaps this year I should […]

Winter Whites

December 11, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

January Elle Decoration is a must-read this month. It’s packed with white washed walls and floors, pale woods and decorative finds. Not surprisingly most from Copenhagen. The photoshoot that really caught my eye was the home of Susanne Rutzou. You’ve probably come across her clothing line, Rutzou, at places like Anthropologie. I love the way the colours flow throughout the home. It’s a real lesson in decorating your house as a unit, instead of decorating room by room: Photography Heidi Lerkenfeldt […]

Displays at Bon Marche

Mes Carnet de Couture

November 27, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

A couple of weeks ago I had a lovely day in Paris with my mum for my birthday. We did the usual haunts, Bon Marché, the Marais and I managed to just catch one of the last days of the Chloé exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo. Oh there were so many lovely things to buy…..including a few culinary delights: The mushroom and veg displays at Bon Marché Chandeliers, plate displays and cushions The “I want to move in” furniture […]

Furry Friends & Fuzzy Felt

November 13, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

Do you remember my post on furry friends and flea market finds? That incredible apartment with the rather fascinating/disturbing taxidermy? Well as a huge animal lover, I have to admit that taxidermy doesn’t sit too well with me, even if I wasn’t involved in the demise of the animal. But here is something your really going to love “animal heads for animal lovers”. Just take a look at these: How ingenious? They just remind me of fuzzy felt and quite […]

The Pushettes go Forever Crazy at Crazy Horse

October 30, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

Today, and until the end of the week, I’m guest posting for PUSH Studios, as I’m helping them set up their blog. Do you remember The PUSHETTES? The burlesque/cabaret troupe I dance with for Push Studios? Well, for a little inspiration we thought we’d check out the créme de la créme of seduction at the exotic cabaret Forever Crazy, courtesy of the Crazy Horse Club in Paris. I can’t tell you how excited I was about seeing this show. You might have […]

Cinnamon & Spice in Spitalfields

October 10, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

I saw this gorgeous book in Anthropologie, “Interiors” by Martyn Thompson, and it’s a feast of vintage inspired homes. Since Autumn is well and truly upon us I thought this photoshoot hit the spot perfectly. Cinnamon and spice in Spitalfields. Mulled wine anyone? “The Spitalfields House is in the east of London. It’s often rented out as a location and I used to shoot here a lot, mainly fashion and accessories stories. I grew up in Sydney, where basically things […]

Kate Foley: Girl Meets World

October 8, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

Last week I was going to do a post on Kate Foley, the British buyer for Opening Ceremony, based in New York. (Although it has recently opened in Covent Garden). I had absolutely no idea who Kate was until I saw this great image of her on Pinterest, in this fabulous coat. After some digging I also found out she has a love for vintage white dresses – which, as you know, so do I.  I was about to embark on […]
