I must admit I’m not a huge 70’s aficionado.
I did go through a stage at university wearing long indian dresses, 70’s flares from Camden market and this ill-fitting sheepskin coat – but generally it isn’t my favourite style era.
However, my mother in law gave me this 1971 Harper’s & Queen, and I must say this beautiful runway edit, shot by Helmut Newton in the Marais, has me re-thinking the 70’s. I love the prints and scarfs.
I’d love to know the story-board behind this shoot, what with rather tentative looking models, body-less mannequins in the background and scarves over the eyes. There’s definitely something going down!
Sounds like something from The Shining!
Style wise it’s a beauty – thank you Patty for the inspiration.
I really like 70’s fashions. The headscarfs look great. I know what you mean about the over the eyes bit though! What’s that all about?
I saw the film death on the nile the other day, the ladies dresses are stunning, I thought of you and this post. well worth a watch if you get the chance!
Thanks Gayle – I shall certainly look into that. Cx
