The Italians Get Thrifty

February 25, 2015 by igetakickoutofyou

I don’t normally blog about fashion week (let’s face it the world is bursting with them) but today, the first day in Milan, was such a hit of eclecticism, so far removed from the rather austere cocoon shapes, clean lines or fringed 1970’s nostalgia of the past couple of weeks and past seasons, it just needed to be posted. Aurore de la morinerie

Brushwork

February 23, 2015 by igetakickoutofyou

How satisfying would it be to be able to create something incredible using whatever material you just happened to pick up? Aurore de la Morinerie can and I’m very jealous. Here’s the evidence…..

Carine Bouvard

Heavenly Creatures

January 28, 2015 by igetakickoutofyou

How beautiful are these masterpieces from french painter Carine Bouvard? To create such delicate works Carine uses a mixture of acrylics, printmaking, oils and drawing. “Mes Femmes oscillent entre réalisme et onirisme, force et fragilité, maladresse et délicatesse, explains Carine “elles sont sur le fil et tout reste à explorer”. (I won’t bother to translate – I’m sure you get the picture and doesn’t it sound so much better in french?)

Soul Sanctuary

April 3, 2014 by igetakickoutofyou

“It’s not about rules; it’s about soul”, says Alina Preciado, proud owner of this fabulous loft in Brooklyn. A former textile warehouse, this abode is now littered with trinkets, art and sculpture from around the world, creating a perfect artistic fusion between the loft’s industrial past and it’s bohemian present. Trish, this one’s for you….. Images Mark Seelen & Chris A Dorsey

Whitewash & Doodles

March 28, 2014 by igetakickoutofyou

I love this apartment in Madrid, belonging to photographer Manolo Yllera. You’d have to be pretty confident in your freestyle doodling to go to town on your walls though. But I guess thats what white paint is for – let the game’s begin! Images by Manolo Yllera

The Illuminati

March 17, 2014 by igetakickoutofyou

Nestled in the olive groves of Southern Italy stands a traditional stone lamia with a difference. Renovated by architect Marco Constanzi, original dusty pink pietra di Lecce stone shimmers under starry beams of light. Enjoy… Photography: Mads Mogensen
