Vintage for children, children's clothes, Milk Magazine

Little Vintage

November 19, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

How cute is this photoshoot from Milk Magazine? Images by Karel Balas for Milk Magazine If only they stayed as pristine as that! I love the way it’s been styled with all the grey and cappuccino hues. And that blonde hair! If only you could get that effect in a bottle. It’s really worth checking this magazine out. Not only does it have some cool kids stuff, it also focuses on design (particularly for family living) and features some gorgeous homes.

The Vintage Pinks

November 15, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

In August 1996 Vogue ran an article entitled “Does your house suit you?” Plum Sykes interviewed women whose homes reflected their whole style ethos. One of these women was Yvonne Spore, a stylist, whose plaster pink walls enthralled my 17-year-old mind so much so, that I still have the article. Believe it or not there weren’t even many images in the article other than the one below. But the description blew my mind. “What just happened was this: she knocked […]

Furry Friends & Fuzzy Felt

November 13, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

Do you remember my post on furry friends and flea market finds? That incredible apartment with the rather fascinating/disturbing taxidermy? Well as a huge animal lover, I have to admit that taxidermy doesn’t sit too well with me, even if I wasn’t involved in the demise of the animal. But here is something your really going to love “animal heads for animal lovers”. Just take a look at these: How ingenious? They just remind me of fuzzy felt and quite […]

Mrs Mulwray style, Chinatown,

Channelling Chinatown

November 5, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

“There are different layers of rich, and you have to choose which rich she is. She’s the heroine of the film, so you can’t choose to make her a dumpy rich person. She’s also Faye Dunaway. You can choose to make her rather chic. I’ve never seen Babe Paley wear anything but brown, gray, off-white, and black. I assume Faye does the same thing as Mrs Mulwray”. Anthea Sylbert, Costume Designer for Chinatown 1974 (Dressed by Deborah Nadoolman Landis) My […]

The Pushettes go Forever Crazy at Crazy Horse

October 30, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

Today, and until the end of the week, I’m guest posting for PUSH Studios, as I’m helping them set up their blog. Do you remember The PUSHETTES? The burlesque/cabaret troupe I dance with for Push Studios? Well, for a little inspiration we thought we’d check out the créme de la créme of seduction at the exotic cabaret Forever Crazy, courtesy of the Crazy Horse Club in Paris. I can’t tell you how excited I was about seeing this show. You might have […]

Country Living, Creating your own country home. colour pop, shabby chic

Instant Country Sunshine

October 25, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

I don’t mind the winter or the cold, as long as it’s bright and at the moment it’s just a rather nasty grey drizzle. So it’s time to brighten up the day with some colour, courtesy of Country Living “Create Your Own Country Home”. Traditionally I’m a bit of neutrals-fascist but recently, since I moved, I’ve actually found it easier to incorporate a “pop” of colour. Have a look at Sneak Peek to see what I mean. You know, I […]

A Haven for Inspiration

October 19, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

I’ve been trying to do quite a bit of sewing recently. Nothing to show you as yet, still a few tweaks to be made but watch this space! So I’ve been spending a lot of time in my Victorian lean-to/conservatory, where I keep my machine, threads and fabric. It’s not a large area and needs considerable work, including a new roof, but when the sun shines, the room just glows and when it rains you can hear the pitter-patter above. […]

Jane Fonda’s Lessons on Life

October 12, 2012 by igetakickoutofyou

How gorgeous are these pictures of Jane Fonda and Alain Delon, taken by Edward Quinn in Cannes in the early sixties? So young and fresh:   edwardquinn.com Have any of you subscribed to Amanda de Cadenet’s “The Conversation”? It’s like a celebrity online interview (Donna Karan, Zoe Saldana, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga etc) but specifically for women. I’m not a massive celebrity lover but I’m actually quite hooked because it does come across as a very natural interaction. My very […]
