If your into the likes of House Doctor and Ferm Living then you’ll love Emma Fexus’s book Northern Delights, which features some of the créme de la créme of Scandinavian Design. You may well recognise the author as Emma from Emma’s Design blog – one of Sweden’s oldest design focused blogs and a fierce pinner! Some of the homes featured are a little on the minimal side (not ideal for a vintage hoarder like myself) but I could definitely see […]

I have a thing for bare brick walls. In my dream home I would have a feature wall with a gorgeously aged and textured brick wall. But let’s face it unless your living in a factory conversion or a rare original apartment in Copenhagen or Paris, antique fixtures and aged brick are hard to find and, I would imagine, a devil to maintain. But if you want to fake it – now you can. There are some seriously clever wallpapers […]

Last year some friends and I had a grand plan to go to La Braderie, the biggest flea market in Europe. As often happens, life got in the way and it never happened. Now, with the imminent start of our extension, I am really wishing we had gone – particularly after seeing this incredible kitchen – full of La Braderie finds: (Images: Pascal Francois, Elle Decoration) The salvage pieces range from factory floor tiles, used as a splashback, and a […]

Daphne Van Den Heuvel really knows how to illustrate texture. Love, love, love….. Aren’t they stunning? I love the stripes on brown paper, you almost want to reach out and touch them. If you would like to see more or purchase prints do take a look at Daphne’s site, the red rail is particularly interesting.

I’m c-o-l-d …..so c-o-l-d! I’m fed up with wearing layers and boots. It gets to this part of the year and you almost forget what it’s like to wake up in the morning and put on a t-shirt and sandals. Thankfully there is an end in sight. Normally it would take my husband and I at least a week to procrastinate over destinations for a city break. But, some friends rang and asked if we would like to go to […]

I watched the documentary Diana Vreeland – The Eye Has To Travel over the weekend and it is an absolute must-see. I was totally transfixed from beginning to end. “I was the most hideous thing in the world”, Diana Vreeland told an interviewer in 1977 and perhaps because of this, she became the champion of the eclectic woman and the unconventional beauties of the world. I won’t spoil her story here, you must definitely watch the film, but she was well […]

I love this picture by Sieff (1985), so simple but with the shadows from the window, so clever. I wanted to see if I could capture the same effect, particularly the shadows of the netting but I think it’s more of a “inspired by” rather than a copy – the shadows are slightly different and she seems considerably more melancholy than the original. I was listening to Baby I’m Broke by Lucky Soul, I guess it infected my mood! Great […]

I’m loving I’m His Girl by Friends at the moment – almost Princess Superstar mixed with Ladyhawke. And when I came across Ashley Goldberg’s cool coloured girls I thought they just fit the song perfectly – certainly not just another chick! Enjoy…….. Diana Gwen Clementine Rosie Lily Ginger
