Baby It’s Cold Outside

November 28, 2013 by igetakickoutofyou

I’m totally in love with the tumblr “Handcrafted in Virginia”. It’s full of toasty rustic interiors, moody landscapes and there’s even a bit of spice thrown in. Perfect inspiration to embrace winter with! So cuddle up with some mulled wine and enjoy:

Lessons in Still-Life (Vignette)

August 30, 2013 by igetakickoutofyou

Anyone who is in awe of beautiful still-life arrangements in the home, but also acutely aware of how tricky it can be, should take a look at Kara Rosenlund’s blog and her brilliant video on styling a plain white shelf. Genius and inspirational! Kara is a props stylist and buyer, who also runs vignette (still-life) workshops in Australia. You can see from her blog and portfolio, she is a total master. I’m also just a little bit in love with […]

Stud Service 2120

August 16, 2013 by igetakickoutofyou

Our extension is taking so long I’m beginning to forget what’s its like to have a home. I’m itching to get the candles out and make things cosy, and without the ability to do that, I feel like I’ve lost my right arm. Apparently we have a month to go but looking outside it seems a long way off! So to cheer myself up, and live in somebody’s else’s shoes for a while, I’m lusting after Ellen Degeneres and Portia […]

Postcards With An Edge

August 9, 2013 by igetakickoutofyou

Between bouts of fighting with my children in Mallorca, over inflatable dolphins and alligators, I spotted these traditional postcards. All were taken by Arxiu Bestard/ Casa Bestard, which houses the largest archive of Mallorcan photography from the late nineteenth century up until 2006. How ingenious! I don’t really send postcards, it almost seems quite an outdated idea, or is that just me? But these are something else and certainly too beautiful to leave to the uncertainties of the post! Greys & Metals: A Lesson in Renovation

July 13, 2013 by igetakickoutofyou

This house is a lesson in how to renovate a 19th century hospital into a quirky family abode. Fortunately Ludvine Degas specialises in renovations and her husband runs a metalwork company. Taking over seven years, this is the result – a beautiful fusion of soft greys and industrial metal. Oh, what I would do for that pool right now! Photographs by Anne Catherine Scoffoni

Zadig & Voltaire Bohemian Hideaway

June 21, 2013 by igetakickoutofyou

How perfect would this Coriscan retreat be, for all those covetable boho looks from last week? No surprise then that it belongs to the designer of Zadig et Voltaire – the french hippie/rockstar brand. You can just feel the dry heat coming off the pages! Images: Milk Decoration
